Robert Semans Workshop | Fundamentals of Oil Painting

Bob Semans is a master painter with an enormous body of knowledge and experience. Bob offers a proper introduction into using a palette as means of managing and mixing color. Students will practice painting form by paying special attention to the effects of light and shade in the studio environment.
These two-day workshops feature open instruction in oil painting, with special attention to color and how it is affected by light and shadow (chiaroscuro). Also the use of the palette as a tool in color mixing, how it can aid the mixing of colors and eliminate common problems.
As an artist Robert has drawn inspiration over the years from several painters including the old masters Vermeer, Rembrandt, and Velasquez and more recent master such as Sargent, George Innes, Mancini, Aaron Shikler, Walter Vaes and others.
Robert is an experienced and entertaining teacher, and we are pleased to have him back in our studio once again. Students provide their own brushes and paints. A materials list is provided upon registration.
