Exhibitions Registrar

NUMU seeks an exhibitions-focused Registrar to join a small, dynamic team to manage the transportation, installation, and protection of works of art and historic artifacts. A successful candidate will be very organized, able to multitask, and detail-oriented. The Registrar reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Curators and Exhibition Designer.

Core duties include:

  • Registration and legal paperwork including loan forms and deeds of gift
  • Managing fine arts insurance for the Collection and all items on loan
  • Risk assessment and mitigation for artifacts in storage and on display
  • Cleaning and monitoring of objects on display
  • Shipping, transportation, and packing of fine art and historical artifacts
  • Disaster planning and response for museum collections
  • Basic gallery preparation skills including framing, hanging and painting
  • Detailed record-keeping of budgets, schedules and inventories


  • 1-2 years of experience working with art and artifactsBasic object handling and cleaning skills
  • Familiarity with power tools, hardware and exhibition construction
  • Strong computer skills, familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Filemaker Pro preferred
  • Museum back-ground preferred


Visitor Services Representative

Reports to Operations Manager, to apply email cover letter and resume to The admissions representative is the face of Museum to the public. It is very important that the candidates have at least 2 years prior experience in either sales, admissions, hospitality, reception or equivalent. Admissions Services / Docent Part-time Saturday & Sunday (morning to afternoon) and Thursday evenings.

Job Responsibilities

  • Interacting daily with museum guests, greeting visitors warmly
  • Running Admissions, Museum Store and Membership Sales  
  • Opening and closing procedures (including light cleaning and gallery checks)
  • Answering phones & taking messages
  • Can assist with special project and events
  • Answering general questions that guest may have
  • Need to assist with set-up and break-down of workshops
  • Needs to be knowledgeable of current exhibitions and upcoming programing
  • Will need to monitor lower exhibition gallery and make sure guests are not touching art or artifacts
  • Would have the ability to be a docent and give museum tours
  • Contribute to the museum overall and help support other functional areas of the museum including exhibitions, operations and events when needed.

Design Assistant Position and Responsibilities

Reports to the Creative Director. 20 hours per week. Interesting in applying email


  • Extensive experience and highly skilled with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Knowledge of how to manipulate vector and rasterized images

·      B.A. in Art or Graphic Design

·      At least 1 year professional design experience, as demonstrated through a portfolio

·      Detail oriented and ability work independently

·      Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong understanding of design principles including composition, color, and hierarchy

·      Proven experience executing a design project from conception to production

·      Enthusiasm for collaboration working with a team to realize and idea

·      Expert level experience with the Google Drive.

·      Digital photography and manipulation

·      Art handling experience

·      Ability to lift 30lbs


Provide graphics support to NUMU departments (such as Marketing, Education, Executive)

Work with the Creative Director and Curatorial Team to create graphics and edit photos for exhibitions

Edit photos for use, keeping a high standard for the NUMU visual identity

o   Manage the Google Drive Photos folders

Maintain consistency in typography and imagery for the brand in print and on the web

o   Make sure that all collateral is updated according to the Fiscal year and exhibition calendar, effectively communicating the NUMU visual ID, and accessible to the public

o   Copy editing and verifying the validity of content

Work with marketing team to

o   Create images and posts for instagram on a schedule

o   Produce eblast graphics to support scheduled communications and promotions

Communicate with vendors and printers to make sure projects are completed in a timely manner
