Develop your skills in drawing the human head in this 8 week workshop series, led by acclaimed Monterey Bay Area artist, Warren Chang. This workshop will offer a comprehensive guide to rendering the portrait and exploring the fundamentals of drawing the human head from life with emphasis on proportion, construction of the head, study breakdowns of individual facial features, and tonal drawing in charcoal with attention to light and shadow or “Chiaroscuro”.  

This workshop is suitable for students that have preliminary drawing experience with the human figure.

About the Instructor:

Warren Chang is an award-winning Monterey Bay Area artist with over 30 years of experience as a professional illustrator and fine artist. Chang is most known for his arresting narrative paintings of farmworkers from the Monterey County area. Warren will be featured in two exhibitions at NUMU in 2019 including, In the Artist’s Studio: featuring Warren Chang, opening January 31st and Warren Chang: Voice of the Fields, opening February 22nd.
