NUMU is pleased to announce a new series of artist studio visits exclusively for Circle Members! We’ll be kicking off this year with the 2022 Director’s Circle Artist and upcoming exhibiting artist, Kathy Aoki. Director’s Circle members will enjoy a day filled with art and good conversation. First, we’ll tour the galleries at Santa Clara University. Afterwards, we’ll head on over to Kathy’s on-campus studio to learn about her process, which will culminate in the unveiling of this year’s Director’s Circle Artwork Commission. Each of the limited edition artwork is unique and Kathy will explain the various techniques she implemented in each. Because of space limitations no food or drink will be served and attendance is limited. Details will be emailed to current Director’s Circle Members. Kathy Aoki will be featured later this year in NUMU’s rotating exhibition series, In the Artists Studio.

Join or renew today to take advantage of this new series, along with other circle benefits. See you in the studios!

About the Artist:

Kathy Aoki is an award-winning artist whose work can be found in the collections of the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Museum, and the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. She is the Lee and Seymour Graff Professor of Studio Art at the Department of Art and Art History at Santa Clara University, where she has taught digital arts and printmaking since 2003. Using twists of humor, Aoki’s work questions societal value systems that define gender roles, politics, and most recently, public monuments. She creates her narrative prints using relief, intaglio, and monotype methods, often combined with watercolor.

*This event is reserved for Director Circle Members and current DC members will receive an emailed invitation and RSVP. All guests are required to wear a mask and show proof of up-to-date vaccination. Should the event be cancelled due to health and safety concerns, virtual event information will be shared by February 22.
