This Free First Sunday, enjoy a tour by exhibiting artist Jody Alexander of her work in Stitches & Wiggles: Unraveled and Reimagined Mixed Media Art by Jody Alexander and Thomas Campbell. Jody Alexander is a book, fiber, and mixed media artist who includes textiles, objects, wall pieces, garments, and installations in her art practice. Her work is inspired by the art of repair, reuse, and by the imagery and stories encountered in her travels on the ground and in the water.
In this 3-hour workshop led by exhibiting artist Jody Alexander, you will learn how to create your own hand-printed fabric! You are invited to bring something from home to embellish (pants, dress, shirt, tablecloth, curtain, etc.) You will also design your own set of two dish towels with your stencils.
Join NUMU this March to commemorate Irish-American Heritage Month through the cultural art of Celtic knots. The diversity of Celtic knots throughout woven, rock-carved, painted, and printed works is a timeless and ongoing practice. Visitors will be able to use pipe cleaners to make three types of Celtic knots: the triquesta, heart, and dara knots.
Over 100 years ago, multi-millionaire Andrew Carnegie built almost 2000 libraries across the U.S., including the one that used to stand in Los Gatos! Join us as we learn what happened to this vanished landmark. Featuring special guest, Shawnte Santos, from the Los Gatos Library!
In this badge, you’ll find techniques to make your drawings even better—which will make it more fun to see what your imagination can do. Draw it out at New Museum Los Gatos. Our drawing badge workshop helps Junior Girl Scouts learn the basics of drawing, explore different drawing tools, and discover a little bit about graphic design!
Celebrate Earth Day and the value of re-use while exploring creativity in our Makerspace. You are invited to drop-in and create your own cork doll by using reclaimed wine corks, fabric scraps, yarn and markers to make a figure. This historic craft is rooted in the Victorian era when hobbyists sought ways to repurpose cork bark. One way was creating these playful dolls from the high-quality wine cork for gifts or collectables.
Spend an afternoon at NUMU learning how to make a stitched mixed media art piece that chronicles a memory or life event with our exhibiting artist, Susan Hyde Greene. In this 3-hour workshop, you will learn how to use photographic images, paper, and thread to create pieced, stitched, cut-apart, and reassembled artworks relaying stories of personal memory and/or meaningful life events.

Girl Scout Cadettes will fold, stitch, staple, and experiment with bookmaking tools to make fun and functional books. We will use a variety of interesting papers and design our own marbled paper using shaving cream!
Join us as we learn about local history and hear from Los Gatos artists Rick Guidice & Susan Jaekel.
