Join us as we kick off our 60th Anniversary year with a free community day! Enjoy art activities, tours, costume contests, live music by Hootenanny!, and more. Guests are encouraged to dress to a 60s theme.
11 AM-12 PM Tour of Greater Bay Area Open 2025: Breaking Through with artists Victoria Veedell, Cynthia Riordan, Siana Smith, Sahba Shere, Jimmy Pollock, Robert Claus, Diane Warner-Wang, Patty Benson, Cheryl Hansen, Diana Losch, and Renee Switkes.
11 AM-2 PM Art activities with Ebb & Flow artists Chieko Shimizu Fujioka and Margaret Luo: an interactive paint-by-numbers where guests are welcome to join in and paint alongside Margaret, and Chieko will showcase works in progress and samples from other projects
11 AM-12 PM & 3-4 PM Get a handle on local history! Guests will be taught how to hold & handle historic objects under the supervision of a Collections professional.
12-1 PM History tour about the founding of the museum, from 1965 to now.
12:30 PM 60s-themed costume contest for youth ages 0-17. Prizes donated by Automobuild and Friends of the Los Gatos Library!
1-2 PM Tour of Rainbow on Los Gatos, which features 17 unique artworks of silk embroidered rainbows on found photographs and vintage postcards, with artist Marie Cameron.
2-3 PM Tour of Snapshots of Pride: Photographer Ted Sahl's Chronicle of the South Bay LGBTQ+ Community with curator Amy Long.
3-6 PM Live music by Hootenanny!, a 3-piece, acoustic-guitar-based band, formed in 2009. They play a wide range of great rock & pop tunes from the 60s through the 90s.
4:30 PM 60s-themed costume contest for adults ages 18+. One groovy fashionista will win a $100 gift card from Domus Kitchen & Home Accessories!
ALL DAY ACTIVITIES
This day will be filled with a lot to do, including lawn games and art-making: pebble pals, beaded geckos, lanyards, and embroidering artwork on historic images as seen in NUMU’s permanent collection.
Light refreshments will be available for purchase or donation, including wine from Burrell School Vineyards & Winery and paletas from Bliss Pops.
