Ever wanted to work with leather but don't know where to start? This is the class for you. Join us for the Hand Painted Leather Wallet Workshop led by Santa Cruz based artist, Terry McInerney. Students will discover the fundamentals and techniques of leather work including cutting, dying, stitching and riveting. Water based dyes will be used to paint these unique, one-of-a-kind wallets. By the end of the workshop, students will leave with up to two hand dyed wallets in addition to the knowledge and skills to continue this practice at home. A resource list of where to find leather working supplies will be provided upon departure.

Materials Include: Quality vegetable tanned leather, solid brass hardware, design templates, water based leather dyes and a list of resources for leather working supplies upon departure.

About the Instructor:

Terry McInerney is a veteran of leather working artist with 10 years of experience. She creates and sells one of a kind leather bags and accessories under her brand name, “Nuala”. Terry’s studio is located at the Tannery Arts Center in Santa Cruz where she creates her leather goods and welcomes visitors to check out her work and process.
