In 1934, the Ming Quong Home in Los Gatos was established as a safe haven for Chinese, Chinese-American, and Chinese bi-racial girls who, for a variety of reasons, needed a safe place apart from their family.  Today, the alumnae of Ming Quong, bonded by shared experiences, have a sisterhood of support for one another, and work together to preserve their history and correct historical misinformation about the home.

In this virtual webinar, NUMU is excited to have former residents of the Ming Quong Home to share their own stories, remember what it was like living and growing up in Los Gatos, and reflect on the impact Ming Quong had on their lives.

NUMU's mission is to make programming accessible to all. Donations directly support the museum’s exhibitions and educational programs. Please contribute whatever you are able.

This program is a part of the Los Gatos History Project which is made possible in part by a grant from the County of Santa Clara’s Historic Grant Program, Leonard Pacheco & Diane Roberts, the Town of Los Gatos, and the Los Gatos Community Foundation.
